Our daughter, Lucia Gloria, made her big debut last week on March 6th. She was a big girl weighing 8 pounds 12 ounces and measuring 21 inches long.
Each birth story is unique and Lucia's was no exception. I had been in labor for 23 hours when the doctor came in and declared that after giving it the "old college try", (*actual quote) I would need to have a c-section. I'll spare you the details; we'll just say that little Lucia was just too comfortable and needed a little help coming out. But all's well that ends well and we were just thankful for a healthy little girl.
Here's our view of the sunset from our hospital room on the night before Lucia was born. At this point everyone was pretty sure she would be born on the 5th so I thought it would be fun to have a picture of the sunset on the day she was born...but...turns out that she just barely missed it and was born on the 6th at 12:15 am.
We were lucky to have lots of visitors come to visit us and Lucia in the hospital. Here she is with her cousins Gwen and Sonja.
It has been fun being at home and getting used to our new family of three. Matt has been off of work so we have had lots of time to take on our new roles as parents together. (Plus it has been close to 70 degrees here in Chicago so it has been nice to enjoy being outside again.)
Welcome Lucia! We are lucky to be your parents and we love you so much already!
